Under the requirements of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (the “Fire Safety Order”) those people who own, rent or manage business or commercial premises (including the common areas of residential blocks of flats) need to consider fire safety and are deemed the designated Duty Holder. The Fire Safety Order applies to all non-domestic premises. The Duty Holder has various fire safety obligations including taking steps to prevent fires occurring, reducing the risk of fire and enabling any occupants to safely evacuate the premises in the case of a fire.
